The Red One, Explained.
Haematococcus pluvialis is a freshwater alga that turns red under stress, and the red is astaxanthin. It's grown for that, harvested, and pressed into the oil that goes in the capsule; nothing comes from a fish and nothing is made in a lab. It's the same pigment that colours salmon, krill and flamingos, which is why the capsule is the colour it is, and why some people notice the colour passing through a day later.
